The Philippine Coast Guard Education, Training, and Doctrine Command (CGETDC), through the directive of its Commander, CG Commodore Eustacio Nimrod P Enriquez, launched 'WHEELCHAIRS FOR HOPE: DONATION DRIVE FOR PERSONS WITH DISABILITIES' in Morong and Bagac, Bataan on 11 to 12 February 2022.

Through the said initiative, PCG personnel of the Regional Training Center (RTC) - Bataan distributed 16 heavy-duty wheelchairs and one adult lightweight foldable walkers to promote strength among persons with disabilities (PWDs) and to encourage them to focus on what they can do, rather than their disabilities.

Mary Ann, a 22-year-old PWD residing at Sitio Ulingan, Barangay Banawang, Bagac, Bataan, was one of the beneficiaries of the said initiative.

She has not received any replacement for her old wheelchair that she has been using since she was two years old. According to her family, it was the first time in four years that they have seen her smile, expressing all their gratitude for the wheelchair received from the CGETDC, through the RTC - Bataan.

The RTC - Bataan continues to seek more deserving beneficiaries of the WHEELCHAIRS FOR HOPE in other towns of Bataan.
