CG Rear Admiral Roy A Echeverria has been recognized by the Philippine Military Academy (PMA) as one of the distinguished Cavalier Awardees 2022 for the Philippine Coast Guard (PCG) operations on 19 February 2022.
The PMA Cavalier Award is the highest recognition given to PMA alumni for their outstanding achievements in their respective fields.
Rear Admiral Echeverria is a member of the PMA "Maalabβ Class of 1993.
He is currently the Director of the National Coast Watch Center (NCWC), an interagency mechanism for maritime domain awareness and security under the Office of the President since 20 August 2021. His role is integral in ensuring the effective implementation of resolutions, orders, and policies the National Coast Watch Council through the NCWC and its Regional Coordinating Centers (RCCs), as well as its member departments and support agencies. Also part of his responsibilities are monitoring and coordinating of interagency border management operations and interagency information sharing programs and facilitating the planning for a coordinated maritime intelligence operations.
CG Rear Admiral Echeverria also garnered a significant impression during international engagements where he represented the country in numerous maritime exercises along with other Philippine maritime law enforcement agencies, as well as foreign counterparts from Indonesia and Japan. As the NCWC Director, he served as Chairperson and moderator during the meeting of the Heads of National Maritime Fusion Centers of Southeast Asia and the Pacific organized by the United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime in May 2021.
Prior to his designation as NCWC Director, CG Rear Admiral Echeverria served as District Commander of the Coast Guard District Southeastern Mindanao.
