This is the remark of Philippine Coast Guard (PCG) Commandant, Admiral George V Ursabia Jr during the virtual meeting with Department of Transportation - Philippines (DOTr) Secretary Arthur Tugade and the PCG team who rescued 12 passengers of a capsized motorbanca in Sangley Point, Cavite City today, 07 April 2021.
"Through our RESCUE PERSONNEL AND ASSET ON SIGHT, we were once again used by GOD ALMIGHTY as INSTRUMENTS in RENDERING ASSISTANCE to those in distress," Admiral Ursabia said.
"We are TRULY BLESSED BY GOD ALMIGHTY because we were able to respond accordingly, TO SAVE 12 MORE LIVES," he added.
Upon hearing about the successful operations of the PCG-manned BFAR vessel, MCS-3001 and PCG Station Cavite, DOTr Secretary Tugade asked the Coast Guard Commandant to gather the team in a virtual meeting so he may express his sincere gratitude and commendation for their swift and reliable assistance to people in distress.
On board Coast Guard-manned BFAR vessel, MCS-3001, PCG personnel provided necessary assistance to ensure the safety of 12 passengers, including three minors and a pregnant mother, of a capsized motorbanca at the vicinity waters off Sangley Point on 05 April 2021.
The rescued individuals departed from Cavite City enroute to Pulang Lupa 1, Las PiΓ±as City when their boat was battered by huge waves, causing it to capsize.
MCS-3001 was conducting seaborne patrol at said vicinity waters when the incident occurred. Hence, immediate rescue assistance was provided.
Personnel of the PCG Station Cavite augmented the rescue operations by providing health check-up to ensure all passengers, especially the minors and the pregnant mother, were in good physical condition.
Upon arrival at the nearest shoreline, the rescued individuals were ferried to their respective homes on board a designated Coast Guard land mobility vehicle.
DOTr Secretary Tugade and Admiral Ursabia lauded the invaluable service of LT Michael John Encina, CPO Francisco Felismino, PO3 Ronel Federico Divinagracia, SN1 Muzar Asa, SN1 Roland Tacal, SN2 Almaajid Sali, SN2 Ryan Hapin, SN2 Michael John Marquez, SN2 Sonny Boy De Mesa, ASN Joshua Ebio, ASN Darwin Abapo, and CCGM Ruel Lachica of the PCG Station Cavite, as well as LT Joe Lester Barrientos and his MCS-3001 crew.
