Personnel of the Philippine Coast Guard (PCG) Sub-Station Semirara, together with the Semirara LGU, rescued eight fishermen of a half-submerged motorbanca that encountered engine trouble at the vicinity waters off Bahura Cinco, Semirara Island, Caluya, Antique yesterday, 07 April 2021.
The motorbanca departed from Barangay Bubog, San Jose, Occidental Mindoro to conduct fishing venture at Carmen Bank, Seco Island, Tibiao, Antique.
While underway, they were battered by huge waves, causing seawater to come in at the bow portion of the boat. Eventually, they experienced engine trouble and became half-submerge in water.
The joint rescue team assisted the local fishermen and ensured they were all in good physical condition upon arrival at Barangay Pinagpala, Semirara, Caluya, Antique for further assistance.
