This was the message of Rear Admiral Ronnie Gil Gavan, Commander of the Philippine Coast Guard Weapons, Communications, Electronics, and Information Systems Command (CGWCEISC), during the virtual convening ceremony of the Enhancement of Radio Communications Skills apace with Fleet Modernization Training yesterday, 12 April 2021.

A total of 20 PCG personnel shall undergo training on basic radio equipment, radio direction finder (RDF), and Global Maritime Distress and Safety System (GDSS) aboard Coast Guard vessels under the supervision of Chief Petty Officer Victor Hechanova.

Rear Admiral Gavan thanked Rear Admiral Allan Victor Dela Vega of the Coast Guard Surface Support Force (CGSSF) for partnering with the CGWCEISC in conducting the specialized training that will significantly accelerate the capacity building efforts of the PCG.Β 

In his welcome remarks, the CGWCEISC Commander stressed the vital role communications play in asserting national security, emphasizing how failure in communications will most likely lead to failure in any kind of operations.

Moreover, Rear Admiral Gavan encouraged the students to maximize learning opportunities for they are expected to excel in the performance of their duties and responsibilities as CGWCEISC personnel after completing the specialized training.
