Personnel of the Philippine Coast Guard (PCG) Sub-Station South Harbor arrested 29-year-old Catalino Tangayan after foreign vessels, 'BAR DA 55' and 'BAR DA 5' reported a robbery incident while they were anchored at the South Harbor Anchorage area yesterday, 21 April 2021.

According to the crewmembers, Tangayan and four other suspects stole timber cargo on board their vessels. They were able to capture the perpetrator, but four of them escaped.

A total of 27 pieces of sawn timber (approximate size: 2 x 4 x 14 inches) with an estimated market value of β‚±20,000 were confiscated from the suspect. The motorbanca used to commit the crime was also detained.

Tangayan underwent medical check-up, booking process, and documentation for the case that was filed at the Office of the Manila City Prosecutor yesterday, 21 April 2021.

As of today, 22 April 2021, the PCG Station Manila continues their follow-up investigation to locate other perpetrators.
