On board BRP Malamawi (FPB-2403), Philippine Coast Guard (PCG) personnel seized ₱2.6 million worth of smuggled cigarettes in Baliwasan, Zamboanga City on 29 April 2021.

The PCG team was conducting maritime patrol when they sighted and eventually inspected the motorized jungkong-type boat loaded with said illegal items.

The confiscated goods were turned over to the Bureau of Customs (BOC) for investigation and proper disposition, while the motorbanca was towed to the premises of PCG Station Zamboanga for custody.

The maritime law enforcement operation was a joint effort of the PCG District Southwestern Mindanao, PCG Station Zamboanga, Coast Guard Intelligence Group - Southwestern Mindanao, Marine Environmental Protection Force - Southwestern Mindanao, Special Operations Group - Southwestern Mindanao, Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency - K9 Unit, and the BOC.
