The Philippine Coast Guard (PCG) and the Municipality of Payao signed the deed of usufruct for the utilization of a 300-square-meter lot located at Tandu Patao Port, Barangay Poblacion, Payao, Zamboanga Sibugay for the construction of a Coast Guard base today, 17 May 2021.

During the signing ceremony graced by Lieutenant Romel Dua and Mayor Joeper Mendoza, the Municipality of Payao also committed to allocate Php 1.5 million to support the construction of said government infrastructure.

Once operational, the Coast Guard Base in Payao, Zamboanga Sibugay will intensify PCG presence in the municipality, thereby improving maritime security, maritime safety, and local maritime tourism.
