Here is the lineup of activities for the 22nd National Maritime Week celebration hosted by the Philippine Coast Guard (PCG).

Amid the global pandemic, the Department of Transportation - Philippines (DOTr) Maritime Sector, composed of the PCG, Philippine Ports Authority (PPA), and Maritime Industry Authority (MARINA), and the rest of maritime stakeholders observe this week-long celebration to recognize the INVALUABLE ROLE OF SEAFARERS in local and international maritime industries.

In a bid to make the Philippines the CREW CHANGE CAPITAL IN THE WORLD, the DOTr Maritime Sector has implemented various initiatives to promote the welfare of the said key workers.

These included the (1) establishment of crew change hubs in major gateways in the country, (2) intensified vaccination of Filipino seafarers, (3) extension of validity of seafarer certificates, and (4) 24/7 seaborne patrol operations to ensure safe and secure navigation in the country's waters.

Moreover, this celebration also creates opportunities to discuss maritime security, maritime safety, and marine environmental protection in whole-of-nation approaches.
