The Philippine Coast Guard (PCG) has inaugurated the Coast Guard BoatHouse located at Barangay Taft, Surigao City on 18 September 2021.

The Coast Guard BoatHouse is strategically constructed beside the Surigao City Port, the passage entrance of "Bangkerohan", and the docking area and/or shelter of the majority of Surigao City's motorbancas during typhoons.

The newly-established infrastructure now serves as a SHELTER FOR PCG PERSONNEL who conduct maritime search and rescue (SAR) and uphold maritime security and maritime law enforcement. The area also SAFEGUARDS PCG ASSETS for immediate responses to emergencies at sea and/or natural calamities.

Furthermore, it is used as a DOCKING AREA AND/OR SHELTER, as well as a REPAIR AND MAINTENANCE AREA for small floating assets of the PCG District Northeastern Mindanao. It is also a good location to MONITOR MARITIME ACTIVITIES in Surigao City.

The construction of the Coast Guard BoatHouse was made possible through Surigao City Mayor Ernesto Matugas Jr and Barangay Captain Pablo Bonono.

The inauguration ceremony and blessing of the Coast Guard BoatHouse were graced by Parish Priest, Reverend Father Bernard Corpuz of Our Lady of Peace and Good Voyage Church in Surigao City, PCG District Northeastern Mindanao Commander, Commodore Luisitio Sibayan, Atty. Manuelito Delani of the Surigao City Legal Office, local government officials, and other partners in the uniformed service.
