She is CG COMMANDER MARILYN JAAL β€” the first female COMMAND AT SEA BADGE HOLDER of the Philippine Coast Guard (PCG)!

CG CDR JAAL is a graduate of the Philippine Merchant Marine Academy (PMMA) Class of 2005 and a member of the Coast Guard Officer's Course (CGOC) "Sandiwa" Class 07-05.

According to the Commanding Officer of BRP Cabra (MRRV-4409), CG CDR Erwin Tolentino, CG CDR Jaal's assignment onboard was no joke, as most of her command of various PCG vessels were in the vicinity waters of the ZamBaSulTa region.

"And before she finished her sea duty, her last assignment was one of the vessels under the Task Force Pagsasanay, patrolling the West Philippine Sea and the Kalayaan Island Group, together with my ship in Palawan," he furthered.

Moreover, CG CDR Jaal was able to have two of her vessels, PCG-manned BFAR vessel, MCS-3009 and BRP Bagacay (MRRV-4410) adjudged as the PCG's SHIP OF THE YEAR for categories 1 and 2 respectively.

"Most importantly, she paved the way for more female officers to aspire to become Commanding Officers onboard Coast Guard ships. She is one tough lady and we, her classmates, would like to congratulate her on this very remarkable accomplishment!" CG CDR Tolentino added.
