Joint law enforcement operatives of the Philippine Coast Guard (PCG) Sub-Station Araceli and Araceli Bantay Dagat apprehended two motorbancas due to illegal fishing at the vicinity waters off Barangay Osmeña, Araceli, Palawan on 09 September 2021.

Through a concerned citizen’s report, the joint law enforcement operatives departed Araceli Pier to confirm the veracity of the said incident.

Eventually, they intercepted MBCA ANDRO with five fishermen on board and MBCA FERLYN with six fishermen on board while on the act of using air compressors while fishing – a violation of Municipal Ordinance No. 42, series of 1996.

The apprehended motorbancas and fishermen were brought to the PCG Sub-Station Araceli for profiling and proper inventory of illegal fishing paraphernalia that recorded a market value of Php 53,700.

Subsequently, the PCG turned over the motorbancas and confiscated items to the local government unit (LGU) of Araceli while the apprehended fishermen settled their fines and penalties prior to release.
