The Philippine Coast Guard (PCG) District Bicol has conducted a water search and rescue (WASAR) training to enhance the capability of its personnel in performing maritime search and rescue, especially during undetermined weather conditions from 23 to 26 September 2021.
Participating PCG personnel underwent exercises such as basic swimming strokes, life-saving techniques, as well as swimming proficiency. They also learned about knot tying techniques and demonstrated underwater knot tying.
Lectures on boat maneuvering, capsizing, and recovery were also conducted before the final exercise was a one-mile swim at the vicinity waters off Albay Gulf.
The PCG puts a premium on the skills enhancement of its personnel to ensure that they are able to effectively perform their commitment to saving lives at sea.
