The Coast Guard K9 Force headed by its Commander, Coast Guard Commodore Nelson B Torre celebrated its 19th Founding Anniversary with the Philippine Coast Guard (PCG) Commandant, Coast Guard Vice Admiral Leopoldo V Laroya and Engineer Eric A Ayapana, Regional Director, DPWH National Capital Region as the guest of honor and keynote speaker in Taguig City yesterday, 06 October 2021.

The celebration was highlighted by the conferment of awards to personnel and units in recognition of their invaluable services being contributed to CGK9 Force.

The CGK9 Non- Officer of the Year was awarded to Petty Officer First Class Florentino C Del Rosario Jr, CGK9 Field Operating Unit (FOU) of the Year was awarded to CGK9 FOU Southern Tagalog and the Coast Guard Working Dog of the Year 2021 was awarded to Coast Guard Working Dog "DARLA", an Explosives Detection Dog of CGK9 Eastern Visayas.

Moreover CGK9 Force in partnership with the Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) conducted a ground breaking ceremony of the CGK9 Force Firing Range as site for honing the target skills of the PCG personnel and building their proficiency in shooting. A blessing ceremony also took place for the inauguration of the Veterinary Hospital that would be serviceable in a few months for all the needs of PCG working dogs and the CGK9 covered court that will serve as a multi-purpose venue for trainings and other related activities.

During his speech, CG VADM Laroya commended the CGK9 Force for its successful thrust in the field of maritime security and law enforcement which have gained recognition throughout the country for its numerous accomplishments giving pride to the whole PCG organization.

The said event was also attended by other Coast Guard officers, PCGA Auxiliary representative and local officials.
