     The Philippine Coast Guard (PCG) has responded to a maritime incident involving domestic vessel, LCT Metal Hawk that ran aground and eventually listed at the vicinity waters off Barangay Wawa, Nasugbu, Batangas at around 08:00 a.m. today, 12 October 2021.

The distressed vessel owned and operated by Marine Vest Company based in Surigao Del Sur had 17 crew members on board, including the captain when it encountered engine trouble causing it to run aground and list.

According to the captain, they departed from Port of Subic in Zambales on 09 October 2021 loaded with 1,000 metric tons of sand bound for Port of Nasugbu in Batangas.

The PCG Sub-Station Nasugbu and Marine Environmental Protection Group – Batangas proceeded to the said vicinity waters to inspect possible oil spills and provide necessary assistance.

Initial coordination with the captain of the distressed vessel was also conducted.
