The Philippine Coast Guard (PCG) and Department of Environment and Natural Resources (DENR) confiscated illegally cut lumbers with an approximate market value of Php 12,000 in Barangay EspaΓ±a, San Fernando, Romblon on 23 October 2021.
The joint anti-illegal logging team discovered the said lumbers in the river area approximately 200 meters away from the shoreline of the said barangay.
Based on the assessment of the DENR, the said lumbers were composed of three pieces of Nato species (6x6x12 equivalent to 108 board feet) and two pieces of Red Lauan species (6x6x14 equivalent to 84 board feet and 8x8x20 equivalent to 106 board feet).
According to the Coast Guard Intelligence Unit in Romblon, the said forest products were scheduled for transport to Hintutulo, Masbate Island.
The confiscated lumbers were brought to the DENR office located at Sitio Logdeck, Barangay Tampayan, Magdiwang, Romblon for safekeeping and proper disposition.
