The Philippine Coast Guard (PCG) has recovered the cadaver of a drowning victim at Bitbit Falls located in Barangay Mayamot, Antipolo, Rizal yesterday, 24 October 2021.

The victim, a nine-year-old resident of Purok 5, Mambungan, Antipolo City, was found lifeless after the underwater search and rescue turned retrieval operations of the PCG and the Municipal Disaster Rish Reduction and Management Office (MDRRMO) from 08:02 a.m. to 03:35 p.m.

Based on the investigation, the victim was bathing with his friends when he was carried off to a deep portion of the falls due to strong water current.

The cadaver was turned over to the parents for proper disposition.

The PCG constantly reminds the general public to be vigilant when swimming in rivers and falls, especially during the rainy season, for the accumulated rainwater from the mountains may cause strong water currents which pose a great threat to swimmers.
