The Philippine Coast Guard (PCG) Station Calayan rescued eight passengers of a capsized motorbanca approximately 25 meters away from the shoreline of Barangay Poblacion, Calayan, Cagayan on 06 November 2021.

According to its owner, 28-year-old Ranilo Gumarad, the motorbanca tilted due to the unbalanced position of the passengers while approaching the shoreline, causing it to capsize.

PCG personnel witness the maritime incident and immediately rescued the passengers.

After ensuring that they were all in good physical condition, the PCG also helped in towing the distressed motorbanca towards the shoreline.
