The Philippine Coast Guard (PCG) Sub-Station Navotas has responded to a fire incident that transpired aboard fishing vessel, FV Buena Suerte J-78 at Pier 4, Navotas Fish Port Complex, Navotas City on 09 November 2021.

PCG personnel detected a heavy smoke at the said fish port at around 01:00 p.m. Upon inspection, they identified the vessel on fire and immediately conducted firefighting.

Personnel from the Integrated Advance Command Post (IACP)-1 Navotas, Marine Environmental Protection Office (MEPO) Navotas, and fire volunteers augmented the operation.

Initial investigation revealed that one of the crew members was scrapping metals using acetylene when the fire occurred at the starboard (right) side of the fishing vessel.

Furthermore, the PCG Sub-Station Navotas found out that the distressed vessel encountered the same incident on 01 March 2021 while docked at the Navotas Fish Port Complex.
