The Philippine Coast Guard (PCG) Station Cavite has secured two vintage bombs found in San Nicolas Shoal, Cavite during a soil sampling operation at around 04:30 a.m. yesterday, 17 November 2021.
A crew member of MV Vasco Da Gama called the PCG to coordinate the presence of two vintage bombs at their location. The PCG advised them to stop the operation and carefully cordon the area.
A team from the Coast Guard Special Operations Group Explosive Ordnance Disposal (EOD) proceeded to the said vicinity waters aboard PCG vessel 271 and Metal Shark 1102 to conduct a safety explosive handling procedure to prevent an explosion.
At around 10:30 a.m., the PCG successfully neutralized and extracted the said bombs from San Nicolas Shoal. The team brought the said explosive weapons to a proper disposal location in Manila to avoid any threat to public safety.
