Philippine Coast Guard (PCG) vessels continue to transport critical supplies to typhoon-stricken regions, weeks after the onslaught of Typhoon #OdettePH.

As per the directive of Department of Transportation (DOTr) Secretary Arthur P. Tugade, PCG Commandant, CG Admiral Leopoldo V Laroya has instructed commanding officers of Coast Guard vessels to ensure the safe and swift transport of Department of Health (DOH) hospital beds to Roxas, Palawan.

He also directed them to ferry road clearing teams of the Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) and communications teams of the Department of Information and Communications Technology (DICT) to Puerto Princesa City, Palawan.

Yesterday, 28 December 2021, PCG vessels worked with Department of Energy (DOE) Undersecretary Alexander S. Lopez to address fuel shortage in Cebu and Bohol by transporting sufficient fuel supply that is essential for the rehabilitation of the affected families.

Today, 29 December 2021, BRP Cape Engaño (MRRV-4411) and BRP Bojeador (AE-46) take shelter in Puerto Princesa City due to inclement weather. The said Coast Guard vessels will immediately resume their relief transport missions to Roxas, Palawan as soon as the weather permits.

Through the PCG Task Force Kalinga headed by CG Rear Admiral Ronnie Gil L Gavan, the PCG will continue its disaster response operations and relief transport missions in Visayas and Mindanao, even during the holiday season.

“We are thankful for the overflow of assistance from government agencies and humanitarian organizations that decided to course through their donations, whether cash or in-kind, to the PCG Foundation and the PCG Task Force Kalinga,” CG Rear Admiral Gavan said.

“We cannot afford to rest while our 'kababayans' fight for their lives due to the loss of lives and properties in the middle of the global pandemic. Rest assured that your PCG will continue to serve those who are in need,” he furthered.
