Department of Transportation (DOTr) Secretary Art Tugade made a covenant with the Filipino people to WORK, WORK, WORK until the last day of the Duterte administration's term and continue to provide a comfortable and convenient life amid challenges, such as typhoon and the still-raging pandemic.

With the remaining 80 days under President Duterte's term, the DOTr remains committed to rendering public service with utmost urgency during a calamity.

In the DOTr Maritime Sector, the Philippine Coast Guard (PCG), under the leadership of PCG Commandant CG Admiral Artemio Abu, ramps up its rescue operations in areas hit by Typhoon 'Agaton,' deploying personnel and assets and evacuating residents in flooded areas, especially in the Visayas.

As of yesterday, 11 April 2022, personnel of Coast Guard Stations in Western and Eastern Leyte rescued and evacuated to safety several families and dozens of individuals, while Coast Guard Stations in Biliran successfully transported more than 70 tourists from Sambawan Island to Maripipi Island. They have also provided food and assistance to stranded passengers, truck drivers, and cargo helpers at Matnog Port in Sorsogon.

Amid the adversities and challenges, the men and women of Philippine Coast Guard remain faithful to their sworn duty to help Filipinos in dire need of rescue and assistance. In the face of another calamity, PCG personnel continue to serve despite the risks in order to save others.

Within the last 80 days of the Duterte administration, the DOTr will continue with its public service efforts apart from achieving connectivity and mobility across the archipelago to give the Filipinos comfortable and convenient life.
