The Department of Transportation (DOTr) continues to mobilize its assets and needed manpower to render assistance to affected residents and ensure unhampered transport operations as Mount Bulusan in Sorsogon Province remains restive.

Immediately after the reported eruption on Sunday, 05 June 2022, the Civil Aviation Authority of the Philippines (CAAP) issued a Notice to Airmen (NOTAM) to exercise extreme caution when flying in the area.

CAAP also confirmed that all the airports it manages in the Bicol Region encountered no damages in its facilities due to the recent ash emission and phreatic eruption of Mt. Bulusan.

In the maritime sector, the Philippine Ports Authority (PPA) announced that the shipping operations likewise remain unhampered.

Meanwhile, the Philippine Coast Guard (PCG) efforts in relief and rescue operations continue, with close coordination with the Local Government Unit (LGUs). As of 06 June 2022, a total of 58 families or 216 residents were evacuated in Juban town.

On 05 June around 11am, the Maharlika Highway was temporary closed to all passengers and vehicles due to zero visibility. However, around 12nn to 1pm, all public and private vehicles were back to their normal trip.

In crisis situations and various challenges, rest assured that the DOTr and its attached agencies will always be on top of the situation to uphold the welfare of our people.
