The Philippine Coast Guard (PCG) collaborated with the Philippine National Police (PNP) to train 82 students of PNP-Special Action Force (SAF) on sea vessel assault onboard BRP Teresa Magbanua (MRRV-9701) in the vicinity waters off Port Area, Manila from 20 to 22 June 2022.

To ensure their efficiency in carrying out the PNP - SAF mandate, the concerned students undergoing specialization in Urban Counter-Revolutionary Warfare Course (UCRWC) Class 103-2022 performed a series of training on ship assault scenarios to simulate boarding and securing of vessel bridge and engine room.

According to PCG Special Operations Force (CGSOF) Commander, CG Commodore Edgardo Hernando, the said initiative established closer ties and strengthened interoperability of special operations forces of PCG and PNP, specifically in conducting skills enhancement training and operations.

The CGSOF personnel headed by CG Commodore Hernando, and officers and crew of BRP Teresa Magbanua (MRRV-9701) headed by CG Commander Erwin Tolentino assisted in the conduct of the sea vessel assault training.

The PNP-SAF is the primary maneuver unit of the country's armed national police force geared toward the continuous enhancement of individual skills and unit capabilities in internal security and counterterrorism operations.Β
