The Philippine Coast Guard (PCG) Station Isabela assisted the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) of Maluso in the safe and swift transportation of 24 Trafficking in Person (TIP) victims at Port of Isabela City, Basilan today, 17 July 2022.

The TIP victims boarded MV Ciara Joie 8 at 09:45 a.m. They arrived in Zamboanga City at around 11:30 a.m.

Investigation revealed that the TIP victims were around 11 to 60 years old and residents of Zamboanga City, Zamboanga Del Norte, Zamboanga Del Sur, Misamis Occidental, and Basilan.

The rescue operations was conducted by the local PNP of Maluso at Barangay Shipyard Main in Maluso, Basilan on 15 July 2022.

The TIP victims remain under the custody of DSWD - Zamboanga City while coordination with their respective families is ongoing.
