The Philippine Coast Guard (PCG) District Southern Mindanao assisted two Indonesian fishermen identified as 46-year-old Bukhari Mandea and 30-year-old Abdul Rahman Mandea, residents of Bere-bere, Maluku Utara Province, Indonesia.

The PCG Medical Clinic Southern Mindanao and PCG Nursing Service Southern Mindanao received a call from PCG Station Gensan regarding the said individuals who were seen floating 200 nautical miles east off Pujada Bay, Davao Oriental.

They were rescued by Clifford Barega of Atlantis Fishing Development Corporation on 07 August 2022. The Indonesian fishermen were transported by its carrier boat going to General Santos City Fish Port in Barangay Tambler.

According to the Indonesian fishermen, they were adrift for 18 days before they were rescued. They reached the country's waters due to bad weather and strong waves.

They were turned over to the PCG Sub-Station Tambler for further assistance yesterday, 10 August 2022.
