The Philippine Coast Guard (PCG) Station Basilan has apprehended a motorized banca loaded with smuggled cigarettes in the vicinity waters off Lakit Island, Hadji Muhtamad, Basilan, on 24 September 2022.

The estimated market value of the seized contraband was Php 2.85 million.

The Bureau of Customs (BOC) and PCG Station Basilan conducted joint inventory after the motorbanca was towed to the PCG Sub-Station Maluso yesterday, 25 September 2022.

The Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA) was also present during the operations.

The PCG K9 team inspected the seized contraband to detect the presence of illegal drugs and yielded a negative result.

After inventory, the seized contraband was turned over to the BOC for proper disposition.
