The Philippine Coast Guard (PCG) District Southern Tagalog responded to a reported man overboard in the vicinity waters off Baco Chico Island in Calapan, Oriental Mindoro, on 10 October 2022.

The search and rescue (SAR) team saw the individual and immediately pulled him out of the water.

He was identified as a 23-year-old resident of Odiongan, Romblon suffering from anxiety due to a family problem, which caused him to commit suicide by jumping into the sea.

The SAR team brought him to the Port of Calapan, then to the nearest hospital for proper medication.
