The Philippine Coast Guard (PCG) assisted in confiscating misdeclared and undeclared agricultural products in Tondo, Manila, on 14 December 2022.
According to the PCGβs Task Force Bumabangon na Magsasaka, they discovered the misdeclared and undeclared agricultural products, composed of FRESH WHITE ONIONS, FRESH RED ONIONS, FROZEN FISH TOFU, AND FROZEN SQUID FLOWER, while examining FIVE CONTAINER VANS at the International Container Terminal Services Incorporated-Designated Examination Area (ICTSI-DEA).
The joint law enforcement team recommended the issuance of Warrant Seizure and Detention (WSD) for violation of the Customs Modernization and Tariff Act (CMTA), Section 117.
Aside from the PCG, the Bureau of Plant Industry (BPI), Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency-Seaport Interdiction Unit (PDEA-SIU), Manila International Container Port-Customs Intelligence and Investigation Service (MICP-CIIS), Customs Intelligence and Investigation Service-Intellectual Property Rights Division (CIIS-IPRD), and the Department of Agriculture-Wide Field Inspectorate (DA-WFI) participated in the said operation.
