President Ferdinand Bongbong Marcos Jr has lauded three Philippine Coast Guard (PCG) officers who were recognized by the Philippine Military Academy (PMA) during its annual Alumni Homecoming at Fort Del Pilar in Baguio City from 17 to 18 February 2023.
PCG Commandant, CG Admiral Artemio M Abu, received the OUTSTANDING ACHIEVEMENT AWARD for being appointed as Coast Guard Commandant on 01 March 2022.
Moreover, CG Deputy Commandant for Operations, CG Vice Admiral Rolando Lizor Punzalan Jr, received the CAVALIERS PANDEMIC HEROES AWARD for serving as the PCG Task Force Bayanihan Returning Overseas Filipinos (TFBROF) Commander amid the COVID-19 pandemic.
Chief of Coast Guard Staff, CG Commodore Tito Alvin Andal, was also recognized as a CAVALIER LIFETIME ACHIEVEMENT AWARDEE for his exemplary Coast Guard service.
"I would like to congratulate this year's awardees for your exemplary performance of your respective duties. Let the exemplary work be emulated and ignite a desire for service in our young cadets. Inspire them once more to become leaders of character," President Marcos said.
"Stay true to the ideals and valuesβsuch as INTEGRITY, SERVICE BEFORE SELF, AND PROFESSIONALISMβ that you have gained from the Academy that everyone should innately possess as public servants," he furthered.
Ambassador Vidal Querol joined the Chief Executive in bestowing the awards to PMA Alumni awardees.
CG Admiral Abu and CG Vice Admiral Punzalan Jr are members of the PMA "Tanglaw Diwa" Class of 1992, while CG Commodore Andal is a member of the PMA "Bantay Laya" Class of 1994.
