The Philippine Coast Guard (PCG) rescued six passengers on board a distressed motorbanca in the vicinity waters off Pandak Island, Hadji Muhtamad, Basilan, yesterday, 28 February 2023.

The distressed motorbanca, skippered by 38-year-old Gabby Mundih (resident of Rio Hondo, Zamboanga City), departed Jolo, Sulu en route to Zamboanga City.

While underway, they encountered big waves which damaged the hull, causing their motorbanca to submerge.

Immediately, the PCG deployed a search and rescue (SAR) team that located the distressed motorbanca, rescued the passengers, and brought them to the Coast Guard Sub-Station Maluso for further assistance.
