INCIDENT REPORT: The Philippine Coast Guard (PCG) and PNP Maritime Group rescued 16 fishermen on board a boat that encountered engine trouble in the vicinity waters off Oriental Mindoro on 23 April 2023.

On 22 April 2023, Fbca Princess Ricamae, skippered by Mr. Rowell Bones, departed Rosario, Cavite, going to Estancia, Iloilo, for a fishing venture.

The next day, while traversing the vicinity waters off Baco Chico Island, Calapan, they encountered engine trouble due to a malfunctioned engine injection pump.

Mr. Bones contacted the PCG for necessary assistance.

The oil spill response team in Oriental Mindoro also augmented the rescue operations.

The SAR team sighted the distressed boat approximately ten nautical miles from Barangay Buhay na Tubig, Pola. They towed Fbca Princess Ricamae to the shoreline of Barangay Tiguihan, Pola.

The Coast Guard Medical Team and MDRRMO provided medical assistance to the rescued individuals and confirmed they were in good physical condition.

Today, 27 April 2023, they remain in Pola while fixing their boat's engine so they can proceed to Estancia, Iloilo.
