Australian Foreign Affairs Minister Penny Wong has announced that the Australian Government will assist in further strengthening Philippine Coast Guard (PCG) capabilities!

This occurred during her courtesy visit at the National Headquarters, Port Area, Manila, on 17 May 2023.

Minister Wong said they would provide DRONE EQUIPMENT, TRAINING, AND TECHNOLOGY to the PCG as one of the initiatives to enhance maritime cooperation between the Philippines and Australia.

"Australia is working with the Philippines to support peace and security in our region," she expressed.

"Australia appreciates the Philippines' role in the continued stability and security of our region. We both want a region that is peaceful and where international law is respected," the Australian Foreign Affairs Minister furthered.

PCG Commandant, CG Admiral Artemio M Abu, thanked Minister Wong and the Australian Government for augmenting the Coast Guard's capability development programs and, more importantly, its vessel acquisition projects to better protect Filipino fishermen at sea and better secure the country's exclusive economic zones.
