The Philippine Coast Guard responded to a maritime incident involving a fishing vessel allegedly hit by another vessel in Cabra Island Occidental Mindoro today, 06 June 2023.

Based on the initial information, it appeared that at around 4:15 in the morning the fishing vessel “Ron Kirby 4” was anchored at the vicinity off Cabra Island and engaging fishing activities when the incident happened. This resulted to the damage of the outrigger of the said fishing vessel.

All the forty crewmembers of the fishing vessel were rescued and in good physical condition. They were transported by BRP Bagacay to Calatagan Port in Batangas.

The PCG Station Batangas is investigating and coordinating with the Philippine National Police to look for the unknown vessel that allegedly hit f/b “Ron Kirby 4”.
