The men and women of the Philippine Coast Guard (PCG) express their condolences to the bereaved loved ones of CG Ensign Genard Santos, who passed away due to the shooting incident that occurred in Lower Calarian, Zamboanga City, on 15 June 2023.

Based on the investigation, CG Ensign Santos was about to ride his motorcycle when an unidentified man shot him. He was brought to the nearest hospital but was declared "dead on arrival" by the attending physician.

CG Ensign Santos was working as part of the Coast Guard's anti-smuggling operations in Zamboanga City.

29-year-old CG Ensign Santos was born in Curuan, Zamboanga  City, on 27 November 1993 and was a member of the Coast Guard Officers' Course (CGOC) Class 25-2020 Duha Limara.
