The Philippine Coast Guard (PCG) deploys BRP Tubbataha (MRRV-4401) to respond to a maritime incident involving a 𝐅𝐁 𝐆𝐄𝐍𝐄𝐒𝐈𝐒 𝟐 that sank 182 nautical miles off Baganga, Davao Oriental, at around 1AM today, 22 June 2023.

According to the rescued crew, they encountered a sudden change in sea conditions at around 12MN, causing their fishing boat to sink an hour later.

Based on the crew manifest, 𝐅𝐁 𝐆𝐄𝐍𝐄𝐒𝐈𝐒 𝟐 had 23 crew on board when the maritime accident occurred.

Fishing boats in the vicinity immediately conducted search and rescue (SAR) operations and ensured the safety of 14 crew.

As of press time, eight crew remain missing, while one crew passed away due to the incident.

The concerned fishing company also deployed its fleet to augment the SAR operations.
