The Philippine Coast Guard (PCG) conducted a πππππππ ππππππππππ for an Indian crew member of MV FOMENTO TWO approximately 8.3 nautical miles southeast of Virac, Catanduanes, yesterday, 05 July 2023.
The concerned crew working as a bosun accidentally severed his finger, causing profuse bleeding.
Singaporean-registered bulk carrier, MV FOMENTO TWO departed from Baoshan Port in China, going to Port Hedland in Australia, when the accident occurred.
The PCG immediately coordinated with the vessel's master and local agent to conduct a medical evacuation with the Municipal Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office (MDRRMO).
The vessel's local agent also informed the Bureau of Immigration (BOI) and the Bureau of Customs (BOC) about the medical evacuation.
Upon arrival at Virac Port, the wounded Indian crew was transported to Catanduanes Doctors Hospital, where the attending physician confirmed he was safe but needed an operation.
