The Philippine Coast Guard (PCG)'s Office of the Deputy Chief of Coast Guard Staff for Strategic Studies and Modernization, CG-15, and the Institute for Security Governance (ISG) conducted the PCG Modernization Workshop on Material Capabilities Development in Binondo, Manila, from 05 to 07 July 2023.
It served as an avenue for Coast Guardians to know and apply the concept of "capability-based planning" as the basis for preparing the PCG Modernization Plan.
During the workshop, PCG major commands, staff, units, and districts representatives were grouped according to the organization's mandates: Maritime Security, Maritime Law Enforcement, Maritime Safety, Maritime Search and Rescue, and Marine Environmental Protection.
CG-15 said they would conduct more workshops to assess the PCG's current capabilities, identify gaps, and determine Doctrine-Organization-Training-Materiel-Personnel-Leadership-Facilities (DOTMPLF) requirements which are essential in the development of the PCG Modernization Plan.
