The Philippine Coast Guard (PCG) assisted in rescuing the seven crew members of a distressed fishing boat in the vicinity waters between Masbate and Iloilo on 28 July 2023.

Mr. Roldan Maghanoy, the owner and operator of the FBNCA ANEERIE, reported that his fishing boat was half-submerged in the vicinity waters between Jintutulo Island, Masbate, and Gigantes Island, Carles, Iloilo.

Immediately, the PCG team boarded Mbca Raj Warrior to conduct joint search and rescue (SAR) operations with the owner and volunteer fishermen.

Investigation revealed that the distressed boat went on a fishing venture on 23 July 2023, but due to Typhoon #EgayPH, they decided to take shelter at Jintutulo Island for five days.

They decided to return to Estancia, Iloilo, on 28 July 2023.

While underway, the fishing boat’s outrigger and bow were damaged due to strong winds and big waves, causing their fishing boat to become half-submerged.
