CELEBRATING 56 YEARS OF UNITY AND PROSPERITY: ASEAN'S FOUNDING ANNIVERSARY

The Philippine Coast Guard (PCG) joyously joins the member states and citizens of the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) in commemorating the 56th ASEAN Founding Anniversary today, 07 August 2023.

Philippine Coast Guard (PCG) Commandant, CG Admiral Artemio M Abu, led the morning colors at the National Headquarters, Port Area, Manila.

As we celebrate this auspicious occasion, the PCG takes this opportunity to recognize the remarkable journey that ASEAN has undertaken towards achieving its vision of a politically cohesive, economically integrated, socially responsible, and environmentally sustainable region.

ASEAN's enduring commitment to regional cooperation has enabled the establishment of robust diplomatic ties, facilitated mutual understanding, and strengthened cultural exchanges among its member nations.

Over the years, ASEAN has achieved significant milestones—fostering a collective identity that promotes economic growth, social progress, and regional security.

As an organization, ASEAN has played a vital role in advancing international cooperation and resolving global challenges thus earning a well-deserved reputation as a credible and influential regional bloc on the global stage.

In addition to this, PCG applauds the efforts of ASEAN in promoting intra-regional trade, facilitating investments, and implementing initiatives to uplift the standards of living for its citizens. We commend the organization's commitment to sustainable development and the preservation of the region's biodiversity and natural resources.
