The Philippine Coast Guard (PCG) Station Island Garden City of Samal (IGACOS) assisted in certifying 38 lifeguards through a 10-DAY WATER SEARCH AND RESCUE AND LIFEGUARD COURSE at Punta del Sol, Barangay Catagman, IGACOS, on 18 August 2023.

The certified lifeguards learned about the proper way of doing cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR), different victim carries, bandaging, various water entries, underwater knot tying, rubber boat handling, basic swimming strokes, and performing a one-mile survival swim.

The PCG Station IGACOS continues to collaborate with local government agencies to offer capacity-building initiatives to uphold maritime safety on the island.
