INCIDENT REPORT: The Philippine Coast Guard (PCG) responds to a maritime involving LCT LADY ALINA that ran aground in the vicinity waters off Coron Island near Cadis Point in Palawan at around 3:30PM today, 14 September 2023.

Based on the initial investigation, the landing craft tank ran aground due to a miscalculation of duty lookout caused by zero visibility.

The crew also said the reef did not appear on their GPS.

The Coast Guard Station Coron and Marine Environmental Protection Unit (MEPU) personnel immediately conducted an oil spill assessment and yielded a negative result.

According to the master, all 17 crew (including him) are in good physical condition and remain on board.

He also shared that they plan to maneuver during high tide tomorrow, 15 September 2023.

The PCG team continues to monitor the vessel for further assistance.
