INCIDENT REPORT: An unnamed small fishing banca rescued one of the five ship keepers of the ill-fated Motor Tanker Sea Horse, which was caught on fire this morning, 22 October 2023.
The survivor was identified as Mr John Michael Alamansa, 26 years old, resident of Barangay Kumintang Ilaya, Batangas City who was seen floating in the water.
Personnel of Coast Guard Sub Station Batangas City proceeded to Golden Gate Hospital where the survivor was brought to conduct further investigation.
According to Mr Alamansa, he revealed that around 9AM today, he was on the pilot house when the incident transpired.
As per attending physician of Mr Alamansa, Dra Michiko Takimori of Golden Gate Hospital, the victim suffered 30% to 40% degree of burn. The said victim was delivered to the operating room for proper medication.
Likewise, another cadaver was retrieved at forward part of the vessel and turned over to the Philippine National Police Scene of the Crime Operatives (SOCO). The lifeless body was also brought to Sol Memorial Homes Batangas, Barangay Natunuan Roas, San Pascual, Batangas for proper dispostion.
The SOCO Team proceeded at the vessel to conduct further investigation.
Identification of the second victim will be withheld for the next 24 hours until the next of kin has been notified.
