The Philippine Coast Guard (PCG) and Indonesia Coast Guard (BAKAMLA RI) have strengthened their partnership in ensuring maritime safety and security in the Southeast Asian region.
This occurred during the bilateral meeting presided over by PCG Commandant, CG Admiral Ronnie Gil L Gavan, and BAKAMLA RI Head, Vice Admiral Irvansyah, S.H., in Davao City yesterday, 21 November 2023.
The officials reaffirmed their commitment to ensuring maritime safety and maritime security, and emphasized the importance of promoting peace, stability, and prosperity in the Southeast Asian region.
Moreover, CG Admiral Gavan acknowledged the long-standing relationship between the Philippines and Indonesia, as well as the strong bond between the PCG and BAKAMLA RI as two agencies with similar mandates and functions.
On 20 November 2023, the PCG welcomed the arrival of the BAKAMLA RI vessel, βKN Gajah Laut 404,β for a five-day port visit at Panacan Wharf, Davao City.
