The Philippine Coast Guard (PCG) spearheaded the Region 1 Inter-Agency Maritime Exercise (MAREX) 2023 in the vicinity waters of San Fernando City, La Union, yesterday, 23 November 2023.

They underwent exercise drills on maritime law enforcement, search and rescue, combatting fire at sea, and marine pollution response.

Coast Guard District North Western Luzon Commander, CG Captain Ivan Roldan, said this capacity-building initiative strengthened interoperability and cooperation between and among participating government agencies, which is beneficial in responding to maritime incidents and challenges.
