The Philippine Coast Guard (PCG) assisted in rescuing 11 passengers and nine crew of a submerged motorbanca, MB LA78, between the vicinity waters off Fuga Island and Sanchez Mira, Cagayan, yesterday, 23 November 2023.

MB LA78 was traversing the waters near Fuga Island when the boat crew noticed their hull was damaged, causing seawater to enter the motorbanca.

The joint search and rescue (SAR) team successfully rescued the 20 individuals in good physical condition.

They decided to abandon the motorbanca when it fully submerged.
