The Philippine Coast Guard (PCG) has intercepted over Php 1 million worth of illicit cigarettes (700 reams) on board a white premium van at Balwharteco Port, Looc, Allen, Northern Samar, on 27 November 2023.

During a random paneling inspection, a Coast Guard K9 working dog confirmed it positive, indicating the white premium van contained boxes of cigarettes.

The undocumented cigarettes originated from Davao City going to Cubao, Quezon City.

The law enforcement team confiscated the goods, citing violations of Sections 263 and 265 of the National Internal Revenue Code of 1997.

The contraband was handed over to the Bureau of Internal Revenue (BIR) Region 8 for documentation and proper disposition.
