Philippine Coast Guard (PCG) Commandant,  CG Admiral Ronnie Gil L Gavan, joined the coordinating meeting with the Bureau of Corrections (BuCor),  Director General Gregorio Pio P Catapang Jr held at the New Bilibid Prison (NBP), Muntinlupa City, yesterday, 15 January 2024.

The officials discussed ways to intensify PCG and BuCor partnership, specifically in promoting peace and security in the country.

They also tackled providing the PCG with a 20-hectare lot within the NBP for future infrastructure development projects to support its growth and modernization.

For its part, the PCG offered the utilization of Coast Guard surface assets and buses to relocate Persons Deprived of Liberty (PDL); aircraft during inspections at the Prison and Penal facilities; and capacity building initiatives of BuCor personnel on K9 handling, security, medical and other specialized  training.

The PCG and BuCor officials also conducted an aerial survey after the meeting.
