The Philippine Coast Guard (PCG) and Provincial Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office (PDRRMO) have rescued five fishermen on board fishing banca, "Pharmaster," that encountered engine trouble 100 meters from the shoreline of Barangay Lonos, Romblon, Romblon, on 17 January 2024.

The PCG and PDRRMO conducted a search and rescue (SAR) operation and towed the distressed fishing boat to Sitio Lusod, Barangay Cajimos.

According to the rescued fishermen, they departed Sito Lusod en route to Sablayan, Occidental Mindoro, to conduct a fishing venture.

At around 09:30AM, they encountered engine trouble, which caused them to drift.

The five rescued fishermen were identified as: Mr. Jolio Galanao, Mr. Ferdinand Tansionco, Mr. Timothy Rodica, Mr. Manuel Rico, and Mr. Marvin Rico — local residents of Romblon.
