The Philippine Coast Guard (PCG) has recognized several Coast Guardians during the Monday morning colors at the National Headquarters, Port Area, Manila today, 22 January 2024.

On behalf of PCG Commandant, CG Admiral Ronnie Gil L Gavan, Coast Guard Public Affairs Service (CGPAS) Acting Commander, CG Rear Admiral Armando Balilo, presided over the awarding of the following PCG officers and personnel:

CG Commander Jethro Padama and CG Commander Anthony Cuevas received the "Award of Coast Guard Outstanding Achievement Medal and Ribbon" for finishing Master of Science in Maritime Affairs at the World Maritime University in MalmΓΆ, Sweden.

CG Commander Cuevas was also awarded β€œThe Schluter Foundation Dissertation Prize 2023” for his outstanding dissertation on shipping and marine environmental protection.

The "Award of Coast Guard Outstanding Achievement Medal and Ribbon" was also given to CG Commander Ray Garnet Gamallo for completing the Public Safety Officers Senior Executive Course (Class 2023) at the Philippine Public Safety College.

He also received the β€œDr. Jose P Rizal Academic Excellence Award” for graduating Top 1 out of 59 students (GWA: 92.47%).

Meanwhile, the "Award of Coast Guard Superior Achievement Medal and Ribbon" was bestowed to CG Captain Jerome Lozada and CG Lieutenant Commander Michael John Encina for leading the PCG's augmentation during the Feast of the Black Nazarene.

The "Award of Coast Guard Merit Medal and Ribbon and Coast Guard Commendation Medal and Ribbon" were also given to Coast Guardians who ensured safety and security during the said annual event of the Roman Catholic church.

The BRP Malapascua (MRRV-4403), Coast Guard Medical Service, Coast Guard Station Bataan, and Mariveles Rescue Medic were also acknowledged through the "Award of Coast Guard Merit Medal and Ribbon" for their successful medical evacuation in Mariveles, Bataan from 13 to 14 January 2024.

With these commendable service and meritorious achievements, the abovementioned Coast Guardians have earned distinct recognition, not only for themselves, but more importantly, for the whole Coast Guard organization that is committed to serving the Filipino nation.
